About the Project

Post-pandemic, responsible travel surged, with a 61% rise in sustainable travel searches. Projected growth of 9.54% yearly till 2027 (approx $335.93 bn globally) underscores its significance. New responsible travel companies emerged, offering sustainable trips. Destinations like Costa Rica saw a rise in sustainable wildlife experiences. Yet, questions linger about the depth of this trend and its impact on communities and fragile environments.

Project Details

In nearly five years, the tourism increases in whole world for 285%, and this amount of number increase make our nature have serious impact. The people don't know how to interact with animal and locals. Also this crazy increase tourism are make some hot spot become really crowed and overwhelming. So in this project we want to focus on how can we help tourism behaviour well, also how can we reduce the hotspot people number.

Research

Based on our desk research, Costa Rica faces notable challenges in global tourism. Our interviews with tourists pinpointed the primary cause identified by international travellers for the current situation.

Problem Statement

How Might We

Create an immersive information channel to provide interesting interaction and knowledge of responsible tourism for incoming backpackers who are travelling in Costa Rica?

Persona

User Story

Theory of change

"If we make a platform for backpackers with reliable information,

then they can help the decentralization of hotspots in Costa Rica benefitting the wildlife, local businesses & sustainability."

We want to change users' behavior.

User Testing

Testing method: discover similar scenario and introduce our service to potential target users Scenario:

  1. Toilets queuing: ask the queue if they prefer to go other loos which is without queue
  2. Microwave queuing: ask the queue if they prefer to go other microwave which is without queue
  3. Restaurant waiting line: provide and introduce different attractive lunch options, ask them what kind of features are they looking for (ex. foods option, seats, reviews)
